Adopting an Older Child

Posted by Misty on 25 July 2010 | 2 Comments

One of my dear friends just recently adopted an older child from Africa.  It has been amazing to hear her tell the story of her miraculous homecoming, and then the joys (and trials;) of raising an adopted teenager.  It is such an amazing and beautiful thing.  These children are the one's that are waiting for a family, praying for someone to love them, and know what they are missing out on...

Matt and I heard about the Bateman family this weekend, who have 19 children.  Craziness!  And many of their adopted kids were adopted at 17, 18 or 19 years of age.  What?!  That brings a WHOLE new meaning to adopting an older child.  You have to watch this video about their family story, and at the end it has several of the adopted teenager's testimonies.  Click here to see their Family Story.

  • Hi Misty !
This is the first time that I visit your website!
I just watched the video, and I cried. Its beautiful !
And it just made me think that we really need to work on that issue, the adoption of older children!
I wish there could be more stories like the Bateman“s story !
