It's a Boy!

Cannot believe I am writing this or that this is happening, but we have a SON!...

His name is Pedro, or Peter for you gringo's out there :)  But everyone calls him Pedrito, which is kind of like saying Little Pete.  (Although my grandma and Matt prefers to call him Pistol Pete!)  He is 4 years old and just the cutest thing ever!  We are madly in love with him.  He is already calling us Mamita and Papito.  It is just a miracle.  

This has all happened ridiculously fast, so please forgive me friends and family if you are finding out about this from our blog.  Literally, this has just happened.  In fact a few minutes ago I got the email from the attorney in the adoptions department, who is a friend of ours, confirming that we have officially been assigned Pedrito to be our child.  Praise the Lord!

So here's the rundown of how it happened: We were asked 3 weeks ago to consider adopting a child with special medical needs during our home study update that was being performed in Panama.  We didn't think much about it, but then a few days later learned the reason for the question.  There was a little boy that had been available for adoption and had not been selected yet due to his special medical needs.  Matt and I took the weekend to pray and research.  After 5 days we had our answer.  The Lord confirmed to us that He had chosen us to be Pedrito's parents.  We are humbled to have been chosen and thrilled that this precious child is ours.  He is truly a gift from God.  

Pedrito was born 3 months premature and was abandoned at birth.  But he is a fighter!  He is totally healthy now and just has to take certain med's for the rest of his life.  He is a little miracle boy.
